FMSDAB Dancing with the Stars Dancer Dee Christopher
Dee Christopher was born in Columbia, SC. He grew up in Piedmont, SC where his father served as Principal of Wren High School. He and Julie have been married for 18 years. She is much smarter than Dee holding a PhD in Genetics from Clemson and serving as an adjunct professor at Winthrop in the Biology Department. They have three children; Hannah Kate is 17 and a Junior at Fort Mill High School – she is a two sport letterman at FMHS and played two sports at Gold Hill Middle School, Meredith is a 13 year old 7th grader at Banks Trail Middle School – she has played on the inaugural teams in volleyball, basketball, and soccer at Banks Trail, Cabe is 9 and is in Ms. Campbell’s 4th grade class at Orchard Park Elementary – a few more years and he’ll be participating in middle school sports. The Christopher’s are active members of First Baptist Church and on some Sunday mornings you can see Dee singing in the Praise Team. Dee is a member of the Fort Mill Rotary Club and is a proud staff member for over 25 years at the American Legion’s Palmetto Boys State every summer.
He graduated from Furman University in 1990 with a BA in History. He has a Master’s degree from The Citadel, an Education Specialist degree from the University of South Carolina, and hopes to complete his PhD in May, 2013. Dee has taught at Castle Heights Middle School in Rock Hill, Ninety Six High School, and Fort Dorchester High School. He was Teacher of the Year in Ninety Six in 1997. Along the way, he coached football, basketball, wrestling, track, and baseball. In 1999 he became an Assistant Principal at Summerville High School and for two years at Fort Dorchester High School. He served as Principal at Lugoff-Elgin High School from 2002-2006. Dee was Principal of the Year in 2005 in Kershaw County. Dee has been Principal at Fort Mill High School since 2006. He loves being the biggest fan of the Yellow Jackets in every aspect of high school life and activities.
Dee does not dance. He will be as serious as possible for this event, but there is a great opportunity for unintentional comedy on this great night to benefit middle school sports in Fort Mill.
