About
About the Fort Mill School District Athletic Board (FMSDAB)
MISSION STATEMENT
To provide interscholastic sports at the middle school level which compete with other middle school sports programs inside and outside of the Fort Mill School District. The Fort Mill School District Athletic Board will partner with the School District Administration, each middle school administration, each middle school booster club and the parents/volunteers of the community to insure the best athletic experience for our student-athletes in this district.
It is the mission of each Fort Mill School District Athletic Board & Booster Club(s) to ensure that our children have the opportunity to participate in interscholastic sports at the middle school level. The FMSDAB and each middle school’s Booster Club are approved organizations recognized by the Fort Mill School District. This association is a group of volunteers who work to provide the opportunity for FMMS, GHMS, SMS, BTMS students to compete on teams against other middle schools. Without the individual school Booster Clubs, there would be no Middle School Sports program.
This organization receives no financial aid from the school district system, other than use of the current equipment and facilities.
This is the reason why there are fees associated with the sports that the Booster Clubs and FMSDAB offer. Without the fees, it would not be possible to provide coaches, officials, equipment, transportation or secure fields and facilities for our student athletes to play. We work as hard as we can to keep these fees affordable so that all students have the opportunity to participate. Scholarships are available to all athletes that meet the qualifications set forth by the FMSDAB.
In addition to the sports fees, each school’s Booster Club will raise money by selling Spirit Wear and various other fundraising opportunities. We continually work with the Principals to ensure that the spirit wear we offer is acceptable for the FMSD dress code. All of the profits that are generated by the fundraising activities are invested into the programs.
It is the goal of the FMSDAB to provide the best experience that we can to as many student athletes as possible. Please understand, other than the athletic director and head coaches, this is an all volunteer program, from the Board of Directors, to the committee members, to the assistant coaches of the teams, everyone is giving their time to create these opportunities for our middle school students.
The Fort Mill School District Athletic Board will maintain a website as a way to improve communication with our student athletes and parents so that we can continue to build our programs into the best in South Carolina. We will also work to provide consistency when appropriate between each of the middle school booster clubs. Please visit your individual school’s website for specific details related to that school’s athletic program.
